Max's Birthday Bash!

Sunday Max turned 1. I can't believe that it has been a year already, but at the same time it seems like he has always been in our lives. Your mom and I love you ssoooo much Max. You are truly a blessing from God.

Max enjoying a birthday cupcake and some cheetos

Max opening up some gifts...and Tug lending a hand. Tug was very helpful

Max then got to ride on Tugs scooter and in his new car

Every party has to have a streaker. Tug stripped down to his underwear and designated himself as the chosen one. It was hilarious. Ben finally caught the lil guy. Max thought it was hilarious as well.

Thanks for all my gifts everyone, I am 1!!!

That's My Boy

Today when I got home from work Max melted my heart. He heard me come in the door and said "dada". Then when he saw me he got the biggest smile on his face and crawled as fast as he could to get to me. I picked him up and gave him a kiss hello. He pointed to his blue ball and said "baw dada", which meant he wanted to roll the ball back and forth with me. He is just growing up so stinking fast.

Max's First Vacation

So last week we took Max on his first vacation. We went to Branson for a couple days with some friends from Jerseyville. We all had a blast. I would love to show you the funny pictures of Max in the car, in the pool, at the condo and playing putt-putt golf....however, we forgot the camera at home. Classic Yenchko move. Fear not. We are going on two more vacations this year and will rack up the pictures for you all to see. Max will soon visit the beach for the first time. Odds of him eating the sand are pretty high, so place your bets.

Top 10 Speeding

People always ask, "What can I say to get out of a ticket", or "How fast can I really go before getting pulled over". My response to those, there is nothing you can say to get out of a ticket and if you are going over the speed limit, you can be pulled over and given a ticket.
I have been a troop for 3 years now and have compiled my top ten sayings of people trying to get out of a speeding ticket. Granted with in the next couple weeks I will no doubt have several more to add, but at the moment here are the top 10 thus far:

10. "I have to use the restroom" (even though they have passed 5 exits)
9. "I am thankful for the job you do, but could you just not do it now?"
8. "Are you single?"
7. "I am on my way to a funeral to mourn the dead, hello" (yeah, she was sassy)
6. "Don't you know who I am?"
5. "You are wrong, I dont speed"
4. "I promise I will never speed again"
3. "My brother's wife's newphew is a cop in Utah"
2. "I just peed my pants" (yes they did)
1. "But my dog has no back legs" (seriously this happend it was a lil pug dog and she held it up
for me to see)

24 Hour Handyman

A couple nights ago Kate and I were getting ready for bed. I always stack the extra pillows next to my side of the bed, as my night stand (yes, I know very classy). Anyway, we go to bed and in the morning I am getting up to get ready for work. I noticed on my "night stand" there are 5 bulbs neatly placed in a row. So now I am really confused. I know those were not there the night before. I then look up at the chandelier above our bed and see that 5 bulbs are missing. I wake Kate up and tell her whats going on. I then remember I did dream about removing bulbs from somewhere, but not sure where. The real kicker is the ones on the very top. I would have had to stand on the bed to reach them. Makes me wonder, what else do I do in my sleep. I guess if you need some work done around your house call me before I go to bed and I will be over sometime in the night to take care of it.

Kid At Heart

The other night Heath and Lindsey were over playing Killer Bunnies into the wee hours of the morning (if you look closely you can see Mia passed out on the couch behind me). During the heated competion I grabbed a bag full of grapes. Heath said he would like to see me get 20 in my mouth at once. Being the mature man I am, I said no problem. Even though I am married, have a son and carry a gun for a living.....I still enjoy being a kid at heart
Ps I did get 20 in there

Allowance

As soon as Max began to learn how to crawl I informed him that he would soon be allowed to do chores to earn an allowance. Well, the young man wants an early start, and recently was caught sweeping the floor for us. Now, if only he can learn to wash the cars we will be set.... His allowance is a dollar a week, tax free.

Kick'n It Old School

This year for mother's day I got Katie something she has been wanting for a while...a bike. Now this is not any bike, but the kind of bike from back in the day when our parents use to ride. The sweet wheel covers, book rack on the back, wide handle bars and big ol tires. The only thing left to do now is to reteach Katie how to ride a bike. She is a little worried she may not remember how to ride, or crash just like she use to as a kid. Needless to say we might need to borrow Tug's helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads for Katie. We also decided we will attach Max's chariot to my bike, yes I got one to, since Katie may crash on occasion. Soon we will be mobile and enjoying the cool spring and summer nights with the wind blowing through our hair...rather Katies hair since Max and I dont have much. Hope to see you on the road.

5:00 AM Alarm

For some reason Max has been wanting to get up at 5:00 AM lately. This is not too much of a problem for me, since I am getting up to go work out. However, Katie and I are not big fans of Max's push to start the day so early. He doesnt cry when he wakes up, rather chats to himself and plays in his crib. Sometimes... you wont hear him, but the sound of twinkle twinkle little star. And when you pop your head in to see what the heck is going on.....

we have got to take that toy off the crib...

Rock Star

Possible future rock star?? Better start saving my money in case he wants to go to Greenville and major in CCM (Contemporary Christian Music).

Greatest Game Ever!

I am willing to bet you have never ever ever heard of this glorious game. Yes, you read it correctly...Killer Bunnies. Kate and I were introduced to this game when we were up in Peoria for a wedding, which we almost missed because we were playing the game. It does take some time to understand how it works, but it is well worth it. Slowly we have infected several people within the Litchfield area with the fever for Killer Bunnies. The main concept is to get as many carrots as possible while killing off other peoples bunnies. Some people are nice during the game...while others are ruthless (Lindsay). It has even been known to convert people who dont like games into a game playing mahcines. This game can not be bought in any regular store..no no no. It is very special. And that is why it is the most glorious game. Once you have a taste...you just want more. It's great! You should come over and play some night. And just to get those of you who have played really really excited.....They are coming out with a new game this year!!! It is called Killer Bunnies: Journey To Jupiter

The Walls Are Closing In

I will admit I use to not mind watching the shows on HGTV. However, I have come to realize the more my wife watches those shows the more ideas she gets to changes the color scheme or layout of the house. The good thing is Kate has good taste, so it always ends up looking good. The bad news is that it seems as though I am just finishing up repainting the house when she gets a new idea she would love to try. So recently she decided she wanted a majority of the house repainted...again. Therefore, the kitchen, dining room, living room and hallway were all painted. I will admit I do like the way it turned out. If you want to see the rest, just come one over. What do you think?

before.................................................... after

Thief!

Just the other day Max was chilling with his cousin Sam on the floor. Sam must have looked very content sucking on his pacifier. Max obviously was not as content as Sam, but desired to be. Therefore, he reaches over pulls Sam's pacifier out and pops it into his own mouth.....mmmm contentment tastes so sweet.

Fragile Lives

The other day at work I was dispatched to a crash involving two vehicles and a motorcycle. I am sure most of you have read or heard about it. While working at the scene I thought that life is so fragile. These bodies we have do not last forever and can very easily be broken. Yet, amidst the saddness of death is the hope that though these bodies can be broken, our spirits can not. We have the choice to live in eternity with our Father in Heaven. This is old information to many of you who will read this. However, to those of you who do not have Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior I pray you would let down your pride and allow Him to enter into your life. With spring here and summer approaching I will unfortunately work more crashes such as this one. I will constantly be reminded that our loved ones may be taken from us at any time. So I say this; enjoy your loved ones every single day you can, do not take any of them for granted, forgive them for their faults and always tell them you love them.

Sabbatical End

Things are finally slowing down and getting back to normal since my last blog. There was supopse to be court this week, but it was postponed. Continued prayers are always welcomed. On a lighter note, much has happened in our house since I last wrote. I will do my best to get you up to date... it feels good to be back.

Altercation

Last night there was an altercation with a gentleman when I advised him he was under arrest. They always teach us in training that things can go from good to bad to worse in a heartbeat. It just amazes me how quickly things happen and how ready one needs to be. Typically, most people are compliant. However, lets face it...no one wants to go to jail. I know you are probably wondering what happened, but this story will have to be told when I see you. You could just lift up a prayer and ask that the process goes smoothly. You see, when ever you lay hands on someone which results in a hospital visit there are several policies and procedures to go through in the aftermath, not to mention possible law suits. The good news is the video camera in my squad captured it all and showed we were in compliance with the control and arrest tactics that we are trained to use. Thanks for your prayers and we will chat later.

94 mph

The other night I clocked a car scootin' along at 94 mph. Now I thought they would at least slow down once they were close enough to see me.... Wrong! They blew on by like a was I was not even there. Now, I tend not to give too many lectures or be smart when dealing with the public, but some people just ask for it. When asked why she was traveling so fast, the driver stated she didn't even know how fast she was going. I then informed her of her vehicle's state of the art speedometer, which is primarily used to indicated the speed the vehicle is traveling. She looked confused, so I further informed her that the general idea is to keep the needle around the number that correlates to the speed limit on the particular road she is traveling. The driver then responded, "Yeah, but I am coming from Alabama" and added a look as to say "duh". I said, "Oooo.. I forgot that Alabama allows people to drive 94 mph." She advised me that Alabama does not allow you drive that fast. "Exactly", I said. I went on to explain to her in great detail what would have happened if she would have crashed her car, or struck another vehicle. Obviously, she received some tickets and hopefully made it home safe and sound.

Common Spelling?

Yesterday, while I was getting ready for work my wife was putting together a meal for a family in town. I was suppose to take it on my way to work. As I prepared to leave Katie told me the bag was ready and on the kitchen counter. I grabbed the bag and noticed a note inside. The note gave directions for heating up the meal followed by our names. I quickly glanced over it and began to leave. I then realized something was not right. I looked at the note again and saw the our last name was rather hard to read. I noticed my wife had mispelled our last name and tried to correct it, which resulted in a form of chicken scratch. Katie said, "I forgot the h". Thus resulting in Yencko. Needless to say, if you ever receive a note from us and there is just a Y on it....we are just trying to simplify things.

It's these lil quirks I love so much honey. I love you. Happy Valentines Day

Maiden Voyage

I have never had a blog before, nor do I really know what to do with one. However, with my line of profession and recent induction into fatherhood... I believe that a blog could be rather entertaining. So sit back and enjoy. You will soon realize why I simply smile and shake my head when asked, "Anything new at work" or "How is fatherhood?"
